Google is set to host an event tomorrow to fully reveal the Pixel 9 series,Pixel Buds Pro 2 and other products, but leaks about the event continued to emerge. A recent post shared some additional details about the Pixel Buds Pro 2, including information about the first new form factor for the Tensor chip.
Previously, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 had already been leaked, revealing that Google was planning new colors, retaining the same case, and introducing a new design for the earbuds, including wing tips. There were also reports of a higher price and a delayed launch in September.
However, not much had been revealed about the actual changes in Google’s new earbuds.
@MysteryLupin provided some information, mentioning that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 would include the first Tensor audio chip, known as “Tensor A1.” This chip was expected to power the new earbuds and enable “twice the Active Noise Cancellation.” The strength of the ANC had been a common criticism of the first Pixel Buds Pro, so it would be interesting to see how this improvement affected the new version. It remained unclear what other features the Tensor A1 would offer.
More About Pixel Buds Pro 2…
The Pixel Buds Pro were also partially powered by a custom Google chip, although it didn’t carry the Tensor branding.
It was mentioned that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 would “seamlessly connect with your Pixel,” including phones, tablets, and the Watch. This likely referred to Fast Pair and its associated multi-device features, which had previously been introduced with the Buds Pro.

According to this leak, the battery life might be slightly shorter this time around. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 were said to last 8 hours for the earbuds and 30 hours with the case. This was a decrease from the 11 hours for the buds and 31 hours for the case, assuming this was referring to battery life with ANC turned off. The post didn’t provide specifics, as the retail source also lacked detailed information. If these figures were for ANC off, it would be a downgrade, but if they were for ANC on, it would represent a significant upgrade.
The retail source also highlighted the “twist to adjust” stabilizer wing and introduced a new Pixel Buds app feature that tracked how loud the music was being played.
The Pixel Buds 2 are small, light, and comfortable. You could use the twist-to-adjust stabilizer to secure your earbuds during workouts or adjust them for all-day comfort. The Pixel Buds app provided information on how loud you’ve been listening to music over time and reminded you to adjust the volume to help maintain your hearing wellness.
Google is set to launch Pixel Buds Pro 2 alongside the Pixel 9 series and Pixel Watch 3 tomorrow. Stay tuned for our full coverage.
